We are so excited that we've been able to provide two rounds of sports equipment and clothing to ten different leagues in suffering areas, totaling over $13,000! Please take a moment to read about each of these organizations and how they are helping the children in their communities. As we raise additional funds, we plan to continue to support these groups and others. Our ultimate goal is to provide each of our partnering organizations with all of their training needs. If you would like to make a donation, please visit the Donate section of our website. Founded by Navin Bramdaw, a magistrate with the Department of Justice. The Witkoppen Football Academy, located just north of Johannesburg, was created to provide training and better facilities to the under privileged children of this area. Navin is currently working to upgrade and improve the playing pitch of a rural school in the area as well as a building change room facility. All the children that attend the school come from unfortunate backgrounds and have very little. The school provides them with a meal, which in most cases is their only food of the day. Providing a structured Football Academy, which will include proper equipment and clothing, will afford them an opportunity to compete and develop skills that will eventually lead them away from a life of poverty and crime. Much like Western Province Cricket Union, WPRU is providing rugby coaching and clinics to the unfortunate youth of this region. Providing a chance for these youngsters to have something to look forward to after school and in a safe environment. However, you cannot develop this natural talent if they are not provided with the right clothing and equipment. Kits for Africa has committed itself in partnering with WPRU to provide the kits for their grassroots development program. And for the disadvantaged to be given the opportunity to excel in a sport that wouldn't have been afforded to them if it wasn't for organizations such as Eshowe. The venture started in 2005 with about 6 children from a local school that did not provide any form of sport practice or training. The program is funded and operated by a few fathers that now provide rugby coaching and clinics to over 120 children ranging in age from 5-18 years who represent every rural school in the area. These schools are from the township or disadvantage areas of this region and provide no form of after school sport programs. Because of their commitment to helping out disadvantaged children and providing an outlet in the form of organized sport, a wealth of talent has been unveiled. To date Eshowe has had a boy represent the South Africa 7's in his age group, two boys have received Provincial colors and more importantly they have had three boys receive full scholarships at private Schools. This would have never been afforded to them if it was not for being a part of this great program. This is an organization that is assisting soccer coaching of a local township school located near Gordans Bay, which is just east of Cape Town. Nearly all the children play barefoot and we are proud to provide training shoes for the team and soccer posts and nets for the pitch. Even the well established sport unions need assistant in their development programs. WPCU has created an outreach development program placed within the rural areas of Western Province. They are providing coaching clinics and developing team competitions for underprivileged children to participate in. They, like most organizations, have had their budgets reduced and are in much need of clothing and equipment support. We are committed to partner with them as they develop the future great cricketers of this region and South Africa. The KZN Rugby Union (Sharks) has been running a development program over the past 12 years in all the previously disadvantaged communities throughout KZN. At least 30% of the players in the current Sharks Academy squad are from the development programs created within the disadvantaged communities. To continue the success of thier development program and to improve the talent identification throughout KZN, assistance in providing kits and equipment is needed so that monies can be spent on hiring more staff to support the rural regions of KZN. At Kits for Africa we are committed to providing the Sharks with support of their development program.
